Chow Funn

Chow Funn

Chow Funn is a type of rice noodle- very hearty and thick.  It is a favorite dish for potlucks in Haweaii and is quick and easy to make.  Feel free to load on the vegtables and meat or experiment with other ingredients.  You can never go wrong with this dish.

Chow Funn

1 pkg. Chow Funn (or rice noodles)
1 ½ cups char siu (or Chinese pork), chopped in small pieces
1 ½ cups julienned carrots
½ small cabbage, sliced thin
1 pkg bean sprouts
Shoyu (soy sauce), to taste
2 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp sesame oil
Roasted sesame seeds (optional)

Directions:
1. Heat oil in a large wok or frying pan.
2. Add char siu, stir fry for about 2-3 minutes.
3. Add chow funn; separate noodles as you add the noodles into the pan.  Stir until the chow funn becomes heated and softer.
4. Add the cabbage.  Continue to stir until cabbage becomes softer, but not overcooked.  Then add carrots and bean sprouts.  Cook for about 3 minutes.
5. Add shoyu evenly to taste.  Add sesame oil.  Continue to stir fry for about 2 minutes.  Remove from heat.
6. Sprinkle sesame seed on the top of the noodles.
